The Ultimate Interview Questions Cheat Sheet

Interview Questions Cheat Sheet

In the world of job hunting, few moments are as nerve-wracking and pivotal as the interview. It’s where your skills, qualifications, and personality are put to the test, all while you strive to make a memorable impression on potential employers. If you have a job interview lined up, practice answering these questions in front of a mirror or ask a friend or family member to listen to your answers. Knowing how to navigate these questions with confidence and finesse can be the key to unlocking doors to your dream job!

Tell me about yourself.

This question is typically used as an introduction, so the interviewer gets an idea of who you are on a professional level. When answering this question, limit your answer to 1-2 minutes at most. Your answer should consist of 80% work history, 10-15% academic achievements or certifications, and lastly 5-10% should be about you as a person while still keeping it relevant to the company. Practice your answer, but don’t memorize it!

What are your strengths and weaknesses?

When answering this question think about quality, not quantity. Vulnerability and remaining humble are important to consider when answering. Pick 1-3 qualities about yourself that are relevant to the position you are applying for. When talking about your weakness, find something that you might struggle with, but also offer details on how you are working to improve. Think of stories you can share, as stories are more memorable to the interviewer.

Why are you interested in working for this company?

It is in your best interest to research the company prior to your interview. Learn about the company’s services, products, core values, history, and company culture. With some information on who the company is, you can use this to your advantage when explaining your interest in working with the company.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

Interviewers ask this question to find out about your general career goals and how they align with the company and position you are applying for. Keep your answer flexible, ambitious, and realistic. Be honest in your answer.

Why are you leaving your current company?

Interviewers want to know why you’re leaving so they can learn more about what’s important to you in your next job. Answer this question carefully and honestly; everyone’s answers are different depending on their experiences. Keep your answer respectful and tailor it to speak more about yourself and not your previous employer.

What questions do you have for me?

You’ve made it to the end of the interview, congrats! You may feel overwhelmed with information you learned and shared throughout your interview. This is your chance to address something the interviewer hasn’t yet discussed and show the interviewer that you’re serious about working with them. Remember, you are interviewing the company too.
